Cancer Grants

Full Story
On Thurs, Jan. 28, Florida Health announced that over $16 million in research funding was awarded to 17 different projects through the Bankhead-Coley Cancer Research Program and the James and Esther King Biomedical Research Program. These funds, dispersed among a number of universities and cancer research centers across the state, will support researchers in their efforts to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment and develop cures for cancer and tobacco-related diseases.

State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong visited Taylor County to highlight their commitment to helping children lead healthy lifestyles. During the event at the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida more than 40 children and their teachers joined Dr. Armstrong to highlight the importance of getting active at an early age. The children had the opportunity to learn about healthy portions and participated in simple, fun exercises.
