Department Helping Parents of Children with Unique Abilities Connect to Resources

Full Story
Tallahassee, Fla.—In January, the Florida Department of Health launched, a website clearinghouse that provides information to parents and families about Down syndrome and other prenatally diagnosed conditions. Since the launch, nearly 15,000 people have used the tool.

State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong visited Taylor County to highlight their commitment to helping children lead healthy lifestyles. During the event at the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida more than 40 children and their teachers joined Dr. Armstrong to highlight the importance of getting active at an early age. The children had the opportunity to learn about healthy portions and participated in simple, fun exercises.
