Communicable Disease Surveillance requires reporting and investigation for all reportable diseases. This is accomplished with assistance and reporting from physicians and laboratories when they encounter positive lab results for specific diseases as designated by the CDC and the State Health Office. Activities may include home and environmental assessment, contact investigations, testing and medications given as preventative measures. The Florida Department of Health in Taylor County actively participates in the West Nile Virus testing when the need arises.
